Collection: Don’t be fooled by the costume 😩😩

We had a Spider-Man entertainer at my nephew’s birthday party…

He had the suit.

The mask.

The colors.

From a distance, he looked just like Spider-Man.

Everyone was enjoying the party when my nephew suddenly yelled,

“That’s a fake Spider-Man!” 😂

We all laughed and asked,

“Why do you think he’s fake?”

Without hesitation, he said,

“He didn’t climb the walls.”

“He didn’t shoot webs.”

“He didn’t hang upside down.”

“He didn’t do anything Spider-Man does!”

😂😂😂

Everyone around him tried to convince him that Spider-Man was real.

But my nephew stood ten toes down,

He trusted what he saw…

And what he didn’t see.

He wasn’t fooled by the costume because he knew what Spider-Man was supposed to do.

Whew…

We’re living in a time where countless voices are competing for our attention.

Internet prophets.

Podcast preachers.

Influencers.

Motivational speakers.

Reels.

Short clips.

Livestreams.

While many faithfully teach God’s Word, not every voice claiming to speak for God is actually speaking on His behalf.

Jesus warned us:

“Watch out for false prophets. They come to you in sheep’s clothing, but inwardly they are ferocious wolves. By their fruit you will recognize them.”

— Matthew 7:15–16

He also said:

“For false messiahs and false prophets will appear and perform great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.”— Matthew 24:24

The danger isn’t always what’s obviously false.

The danger is what looks real…

Sounds spiritual…

Feels right…

But doesn’t align with God’s Word.

Paul reminds us: “Test everything; hold fast what is good.”— 1 Thessalonians 5:21

That means we don’t blindly accept every sermon…

Every prophecy…

Every viral clip…

Or every inspirational quote.

The question is…

“Does this reflect the character, the truth, and the fruit of Christ?”

Because God’s Word—not personalities, popularity, or emotions—is our standard.

Take a moment and ask yourself:

• Am I spending more time consuming content than I am reading God’s Word?

  
  

  Have I been accepting messages because they’re popular, or because they’re biblical?

  
  

• Does what I’m listen to reflect the character, the truth, and the fruit of Christ?

Today, ask the Holy Spirit to sharpen your discernment….

Spend time with the Truth.

Because the more you know Jesus…

The easier it becomes to recognize what isn’t Him.
